University Certificate in Full-time Education
From 2026, the statutory right to all-day care in primary schools will be phased in across Baden-Württemberg. This has prompted our university to include the topic of ‘all-day schooling’ in both its regular and extracurricular teaching programmes.
To prepare them to carry out their duties professionally at an all-day primary school, Bachelor’s students studying primary school teaching and early childhood education are given the opportunity to acquire a relevant additional qualification.

Target audience
The certificate is aimed at students on the Bachelor’s degree programmes in Primary School Teaching and Early Years Education.
Learning outcomes and skills
They can develop their pedagogical, subject-specific and organisational skills in the following areas:
- Theories and concepts of all-day education.
- Education and teaching: teaching and learning in an all-day setting.
- Structuring the day in all-day settings.
- Building relationships in all-day settings.
- Networking in all-day schools.
- Research into all-day schools.
- Working in multi-professional teams.
- Early childhood education in all-day primary schools.
Students must complete a three-week practical placement at an all-day primary school, culminating in a placement report. The placement report may form the basis for a final dissertation in the Bachelor’s degree programme. The practical phase takes place in cooperation with the Stadtjugendausschuss e. V. Karlsruhe (stja).
