Quality management
The overarching aim of quality management at our university is to safeguard and continuously improve the quality of study programmes and teaching. This task is carried out by the Quality Management Unit (SQM). Through surveys and other monitoring measures, it supports the university management and teaching staff in regularly reviewing degree programmes and student success, and in further developing the range of courses on offer and the overall framework conditions.
Key areas of focus
- Carrying out the internal accreditation procedures for our degree programmes
- Conducting quantitative and qualitative student surveys, in particular course evaluations, first-year student surveys, graduate surveys, evaluations of academic continuing education programmes and surveys on support services
- Providing advice to teaching staff on self-evaluation issues
- Acting as a point of contact for students with suggestions for improvement
System accreditation
Our quality management system was accredited in September 2020. The Accreditation Council’s seal certifies that our university is able to ensure that learning outcomes and quality standards are met in our study programmes and teaching.
As a system-accredited university, we are authorised to accredit our own degree programmes. Key elements of the quality management system include regular student surveys, as well as transparent and binding procedures and areas of responsibility.
The basis for this is the Study Programme Accreditation Ordinance of the State of Baden-Württemberg.

Quality Management Committee for Studies and Teaching
The staff at SQM are members of the ‘Quality Management in Studies and Teaching’ committee. The committee regularly reviews the various elements of the quality management system and thus supports its ongoing development.

I offer two weekly consultation hours during the semester. On Mondays, I am available in person (IV/seminar room) from 1.35 pm to 2.00 pm for signing documents and similar brief appointments (book via StudIP). On Thursdays from 10.50 am to 11.30 am, I offer an online consultation hour for longer appointments. You can contact me via the PH’s internal WebEX in my virtual consultation room.
