Learning objectives and skills
The educational objectives of the Mathematics degree programme are taught with particular emphasis on teaching and learning processes within heterogeneous groups. Raising awareness of language and heuristic techniques plays a central role in this, which is of fundamental importance, particularly in teacher training. Students learn how to facilitate an environment in suitable settings that encourages independent, self-directed yet cooperative group work, as well as exploring ways to differentiate teaching within the subject to cater for students’ varying levels of ability.
Course content
Examples of course content include mathematical skills, defining and proving, heuristics and language, presenting, producing educational videos, Cinderella and CindySkript, Excel, Stud.IP, as well as the role and responsibilities of a tutor, feedback, teaching methods, marking and video-supported self-reflection.
